What do other parents have to say?
Jessica immediately put me at ease during our video consultation and I knew I could trust her opinion and advice from the get go. My baby was never “an awful sleeper” and I was really starting to resent people catastrophising her pretty normal infant sleep. Jessica understood that for us, there was no rush, but that I wanted to be able to have an evening to myself after my daughter was asleep, instead of multiple wake ups or me having to lie next to her to keep her settled. Straight away, Jessica’s “quick win” strategies meant that we adjusted daytime naps and bedtime was calmer. Within 2 nights we had reached the main goal I had in mind. Then, with the help of Jessica’s very detailed sleep plan, and regular email contact, we started working on the longer term goal of her sleeping in the cot for most of the night. So far not a tear has been shed, she falls asleep in the cot with me still in the room, and we are making progress week by week. She doesn’t sleep through, but that’s fine by me, I love a sleepy morning cuddle! Thank you Jessica for your gentle, respectful approach and really listening to what we wanted to achieve, rather than what others may think we should!
Before coming to Jessica, our daughter was waking almost every hour after midnight and on the rare occasions we had a good night, it would still be at least 4 wakes, taking up to an hour to resettle her after each one. Despite thinking it would get better it just wasn’t improving. Jessica understood our situation completely and took an holistic approach to our baby’s sleep, reassuring us about what was normal. She gave us appropriate options for us to choose what would best suit our situation and guided us through the process so supportively, day by day. Jessica also helped us identify and deal with an underlying issue (a suspected food allergy/intolerance) that had been waking our baby so frequently. Our sleep situation is almost unrecognisable compared to where it was a month ago. Last night our daughter managed an eight hour stretch before waking for a feed. She’s getting more sleep and so are we – everyone is in a much better mood! We can’t thank you enough Jessica!
We got in touch with Jessica because we were finding our son’s frequent overnight waking and feeding difficult to manage now that I’m back at work. We wanted to make gentle and respectful changes and we weren’t interested in a cry it out approach. I was perfectly happy to continue with one or two overnight feeds but on night three of the plan he slept through! Since then we have had ups and downs with illness and teething but Jessica has always helped us get back on track quickly and we can’t emphasise enough what a difference more sleep has made to us all.
As a Dad who was very much involved in our daughter’s sleep problem and had been getting up to settle her multiple times in the night, it was nice to be involved fully from the start and to play an active part in helping her learn to sleep better. Now our daughter falls asleep happily at bedtime and is so much more settled overnight, which has been a gamechanger for our family.
So much we read tells us a baby should be sleeping through the night by 6 months. Jessica comforted us with a more realistic and gentle approach, recognising that it is completely normal for babies to still need overnight feedings. She helped us identify simple changes in our daughter’s schedule that would facilitate her learning to fall asleep on her own, last longer stretches, and was flexible sharing methods that would allow us to continue cosleeping if we so wished. It’s refreshing to work with someone who promotes such gentle methods and recognises the needs of babies.
I now understand what it means to adopt a truly “holistic” approach to sleep. I was worried it was just a buzzword, but no! Jessica identified factors impacting our son’s sleep which in our sleep deprived state, we never would have considered. She then helped us make simple changes to our daily routine which have made a huge difference to our sleep situation. I would recommend Jessica to anyone in a similar position to us.
Wow! Working with Jessica has made such a difference to our house. Bedtimes are no longer a battle, and nights are now manageable. I loved that we could choose the strategy we felt would work best for us, and get guidance with implementing it. Jessica had often analysed our night before I’d even had my first morning coffee, and her emails were always reassuring. Knowing that she would never suggest leaving our daughter to cry allowed me to be honest and get the help we so desperately needed.
Jessica has helped us immensely with our little boy. We had very much taken the “path of least resistance” with him and prioritised getting sleep where we could, which meant that he was sleeping in our bed at 8 months and keeping me awake feeding all night. Jessica didn’t judge our decisions and clearly understood where we were and what we wanted to achieve (sleep, obviously! – but also wider considerations like timeframe and the fact that we wanted the transition to his own bed to be fairly gentle). Jessica developed an incredibly thoughtful and detailed sleep plan which outlined our options and allowed us to make an informed decision as to our approach…. Jessica was professional, friendly and understanding. Not only was she very responsive, she also actively reviewed our sleep log and got in contact to offer support and tips. We moved entirely at our own and felt in control and supported the entire time.
